Hey all, Here is the article that was in the Denver post!

A busy social calendar for fashion-forward folk

New York, Paris and Milan no longer have a lock on Fashion Week. Catwalk parades are staged all over Europe and Asia. Closer to home, Houston and San Francisco hosted mini versions of the shows held in Manhattan. Here at home, there are plenty of places to wear your wedge heels and babydoll dresses in the next week or so. Denver’s fashion-forward folk have a bunch of shows and parties planned, starting Friday: The Mixed Bag Festival, featuring entertainment and fashion shows with Funklectic, Peculiar Designs, Racheltai Designs and Giddyup, starts the show at the Oriental Theater in the Berkeley neighborhood on Friday. Oriental Theater, 4335 W. 44th Ave.; 7 p.m., with shows at 9 and 11 p.m.; $7 admission. mixedbagfestival.com. The Fabric Lab hosts “Fashion Inspired,” a show of art and clothing from more than 30 designers, staged in front of its store on Saturday. Guests are encouraged to bring a T-shirt and go home with a screenprinted original. The Fabric Lab, 3105 E. Colfax Ave. 303-321-3604; thefabriclab.com; 7 p.m. Free. On April 4 the first of four shows of a “Project Runway”-style competition will be staged at Tamarac Square. Local designers are taking on challenges and vying for a trip to New York’s next Fashion Week. Tamarac Square, 7777 E. Hampden Ave. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; student tickets are $10 with ID. Proceeds benefit Dress for Success Denver. fashionproject tamarac.com. Green goodies!

Have you ever wanted to do something spontaneous and crazy? Was thinking about it this morning. I am looking out my window at the beautiful mountains and was thinking about just skipping work and taking a drive up there and having myself a good old picnic lunch and hike. Ahh well, what are you going to do. I did have my fill of the sunshine on Saturday. Had a wonderful day, out in the sun! And I got just the littlest burnt.

I guess I can suppress my craving for sunshine today by just spending my lunch outside.

Now for what has been happening in my little fashion world. I started working with the samples, and the dress didn't work out. I did, however, successfully make a couple of purses! which actually turned out better then I expected. They are pretty cute, and will be available at the next fashion Denver. Also, I have a spread in the new Elephant Mag, and am very excited to see that. The spring issue is coming out this week, so I will have to keep checking the Tattered Cover.

Over the weekend, I finished another dress for the Fashion Show on March 31. It is pure green, and I think that I was inspired by St. Patricks day. I was also inspired by John Galliano's fall collection and a piece in the Christian Dior's Couture collection. Both have lots of frills, and the piece I designed has frills that fade from dark green to light green at the top. I happen to like it allot, and probably will just keep it for my own collection.

Monday morning without coffee.

Well, it is a new day and a new work week. Fun fun fun. I unfortunately had a not so good weekend. Got the Flu Friday night, and after throwing up my whole dinner, I figured out why I had such a splitting headache and horrible body aches. Anyways, I am feeling much better now, and despite the sick part of the weekend I did get out a bit to enjoy the wonderful weather! It was beautiful out, and what better way then to enjoy it by having a picnic in the park.

Tonight I am meeting with someone from Tonic Marketing Company http://www.tonicmarketing.com/ , who is going to do a PR project with Mademoiselle Modiste. I am not sure what it will entail, and what it will be like, but I guess that tonight is what that is for. Anyways...keep you posted on how it turns out.

Maybe after that, I will go ahead and do some sewing since I really didn't stick to my Friday night plan for the weekend (although it was even more pathetic then I expected). I finally went through a box that my friend gave me. She works with textiles and they were a bunch of samples, but after looking through them last night I think I will be able to create something with them. Since they are all square pieces, it might end up easy to create something very MOD. We will see, it is my next experiment, and if it doesn't work out I got the fabric for free, so its all good.

Happy Monday to you all, and good work getting through the week!

Good Afternoon Bloggers

Here to start a blog! It will probably contain alot of stuff on Fashion and my upcoming projects, but also just fun stuff that is going on or I am doing or want to do. Anyways, had a busy week. Lots of work! and no time for sewing. So I am going to dedicate my Friday night to sewing (don't I lead an exciting life!). I will probably start working on my project for the Fabric Lab. They have an awesome show coming up on the 31st that will be dedicated to Couture Items, and I am glad to have a new focus. I think I am going to creat some unique pieces that are complecated and very technical. I am going to design my first long dress (I love the hot short dress, but I thought I would try something different). I have already started it, and the dress contains alot of vintage lace and cream colored fabric mixed with some gold and some embelishments that are from an old wedding dress. Anyways, I really like how it is turning out, althought I don't know if I will ever have anything to wear it for. Also, has anyone else noticed how crazy "in" the gold and silver is! CRAZY!!! It is everywhere. Silver and Gold. That is where it is at. Anyways, I think it is awesome, and I have some vintage gold lace and gold fabric that I think I am going to use in a dress that I can wear out. I don't know how denver will take the silver and gold craze but I am going to be creating alot of new items that contain gold and silver fabric. We will see if the people of Denver will come through for me and get interested in it.
